Brighten The Corners and King Street Cinema present Pavements, a screening of the new release followed by Gimme Indie Rock! 90s DJ Set at The Church. Entry to The Church is free, and you can purchase your tickets for the screening via KSC.
At Brighten The Corners we are big Pavement fans. In fact, our name is taken from the band's fourth album - but you knew that, right?
Did you also know that the band has released a typically unorthodox and surreal biopic?
When Dan from King Street Cinema got in touch to see if we wanted to collaborate with them on a screening of the band’s new film we jumped at the chance.
So please join us on Friday 12th September at King Street Cinema for a screening of this unique, deconstructed rock doc. Then after the screening head down to The Church where we’ll be spinning the finest 90s indie rock Pavement-adjacent bangers until midnight - think Silver Jews, Guided By Voices, Sebadoh, Husker Du, The Clean, Sonic Youth, The Breeders, Yo La Tengo, Dinosaur Jr…
“An examination of the iconic 90s indie band, Pavements appears to be just another music documentary, until it doesn't. A prismatic, narrative, scripted, documentary, musical, metatextual hybrid, the film intimately shows the band preparing for their sold-out 2022 reunion tour while simultaneously tracking the preparations for a musical based on their songs, a museum devoted to their history and a big-budget Hollywood biopic inspired by their saga as the most important band of a generation.”
