Matt Storm makes music that fuses vintage soul and jazz with modern alternative sounds. His blend of genre-defying alt soul, often described as “unique yet accessible”, touches on themes of vulnerability and hard truths.

Currently based in Vancouver, Matt was raised all over the globe before settling in Western Canada. The multi- instrumentalists unique, self-taught style reflects his non-traditional upbringing.
2022 saw Matt and his band grace Victoria’s Rifflandia Festival and the Vancouver Mural Festival, and was selected for Music BC’s ARC Program. “We Went Our Own Ways” solidified itself as an underground hit on Spotify with now over 2 Million streams to date. Matt toured western B.C. extensively, a mainstay at Vancouver’s popular Guilt & Co as well as multiple trips to Vancouver Island and surrounding areas. In 2023 Matt toured Slovakia and the UK, including a headlining show in London.
A long time collaborator with Desirée Dawson (2022 Juno Nominated, 2016 CBC Searchlight Winner), the two have been working together and touring since 2016. Their co-written duets became a feature part of her live performance, exposing Matt’s sound to a whole new audience on huge stages like The Vogue, Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver Folk Fest and an opening slot on Serena Ryder’s 2022 western Canada tour.
2023 began a new era for Matt, the culmination of experience over his 7 year journey as a recording artist and producer coming to a head with his new EP “SPILT” set to release in 2024, self-produced and featuring some of Vancouver’s most prominent musicians. The project is mixed by Grammy-nominated Ben Kane (D’angelo, Emily King). The first single “what do ya miss?” received warm welcome in North America and Europe, now with over 200k streams on Spotify and a spot on the popular “Low Key” playlist. The third single “APOLOGIZE” came out Feb 2024, and dug further into the chill, psychedelic-soul sound of the EP, landing on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds Canada”. Matt currently has over 100k Monthly Listeners on Spotify.
