Following the success of his first event, it was only right that he came back for another. “Return of the Boom Bap” is essentially a flashback to the golden era of hip hop, as well as the soulful and funky roots that bred it.

Now for those of you that don’t know, boom bap was born n raised in New York and became a prominent sound amongst hip hop producers of that era which ran from the late 80s till early 90s. Boom bap has a distinct sound built on a foundation of punchy n grimy drums, then layered with all sorts of sampling wizardry. Key names include: Marley Marl, Eric B. & Rakim, KRS-One, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Gang Starr, Wu Tang, Nas, Mobb Deep, Biggie. The list goes on.

You can expect a night of head-nodding beats n bars, soulful grooves, and funky breaks. So if this sounds like your sorta gig, then shout your peeps and come join us for yet another curated music experience, brought to you by three local turntablists.

  Dylan Jay is a young and aspiring music producer & DJ. Despite the young age, his music taste really stems from anytime between the 1960s till the 1990s. From Jazz & Soul to Funk & Disco, a true music enthusiast. However, where Dylan’s taste and knowledge truly shines is Hip-Hop. The young lad grew up listening to old school Hip-Hop, as well as many other dope genres across various eras, developing a cultured ear for music over time.

  Jimmy Green

  Jimmy Green has been DJing in clubs for over 30 years, supporting and playing alongside Grandmaster Flash, Masta Ace, Maseo (De La Soul), Akil (Jurassic 5), Jehst, Kashmere, Chester P, and Huey Morgan. He plays Hip-Hop, Funk, classic breaks and party jams - expect a block party feel with cutting and scratching!

  JAL started out listening to the pirates back in the day, becoming an avid collector of records. He has DJ’ed in Ipswich, London, Bristol and Spain playing anything from Hip-Hop, Rare Groove, Funk and Soul.
